Discussion: Making Meaning out of Nothing with "Cheerleader" and Pitbull

Glad you made it! I can’t wait to hear what song you chose and what you think of it.

Just to help keep the creative juices flowing, I’ve copied down the “homework” part of the email I sent you.

Your Turn: Do you think a shallow song can be very deep? If so, what do you think of my six questions and would you add any questions to them?

Homework: Pick a pop song--the cheesier, lamer, or wilder the better. Listen to it and apply my six questions to it. What did you find out?

NOW ANALYZE! In the comment area below, mention your song and tell us what you learned about it. You and your findings may get featured in an email or a podcast in the future!

I can't wait to talk to you there and to see what you found, and I hope you're looking forward to tomorrow's lesson about common and stereotypical song meanings! We're going to talk about how certain song meanings keep coming up again and again in all sorts of genres.

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

Clifford Stumme

P.S. If you can't get enough, be sure to check out my podcast. I think you'll like what you find there! And sometimes Wife April joins me, so it's super good.
